Julian Lennon has revealed that he has been diagnosed with coronary heart disease.
The singer-songwriter and photographer, who is the eldest son of John Lennon, recently opened up about his health on X while encouraging fans to get medical checkups before serious conditions go unnoticed.
He wrote: “After being diagnosed with Coronary Heart Disease & a Pre-Diabetic, I urge all to get checked out sooner than later, as you never know what hidden health issues you may have, even after exercising and eating as much 'good/healthy' food as possible.”
Julian continued by encouraging people not to ignore potential warning signs, adding: “Nip it in the bud! As they say... Even with these ailments, I've managed to catch them early enough, to be able to reverse some of the damage and will hopefully be able to live a healthy long life! Please get checked out, before you're checked out...”
The 63 year old also shared photos from a recent nature getaway and thanked the doctors who have supported and guided him through this new stage of his health journey.
Coronary Heart Disease happens when arteries become narrowed because of fatty build up, reducing the flow of oxygen rich blood to the heart. Prediabetes, meanwhile, means blood sugar levels are elevated and can eventually lead to Type 2 Diabetes if left untreated.
The Too Late for Goodbyes singer has spoken publicly about health concerns before.
Back in February 2020, Julian revealed on Facebook that doctors removed a mole from his head after testing confirmed it had become cancerous.
During a 2024 appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, he explained that the experience changed the way he approaches his health, saying he now checks “anything that just looks or feels a little odd.”
“I go for the proper checkup, like twice a year, on every front, just to make sure I'm going to be around. Because I like living. I want to be around for a long time,” he shared.
Julian’s mother, Cynthia Lennon, passed away in April 2015 following a battle with cancer at the age of 75.
John Lennon was tragically killed in New York City in 1980 at the age of 40.
